Rollin down a river

OOooook, here's the latest and greatest:
On Tuesday, I decided to go back to the Museum of Natural History. We looked at dinosaurs. I have decided that dinosaurs are the scariest thing EVER, and I feel so glad I did not ever live with them, and that I am not one. Because they are so scary. I'm serious, I was like nervous the whole time. THEN we went to the ocean part, and there is a GIANT whale, which is neat because I like whales a lot. And I saw all these scary fish with lights on their heads, and freaky teeth, and I decided I'm terribly frightened of fishes too. And then I saw the bears... but I already knew I was terrified of them, so that was nothing new. I think I'm more scared of bears than I am of robbers. This is a picture of me with a triSARAHtops horn.

Anyways, after dinner I was dying to see a show so I talked some ladies into going to Jersey Boys with me, and it was, need I say, A-mazing. I loved every minute. It was just so fun, and I've been wanting to see it since I was in high school (yeah, I know, that's a long time ago). I only left with one question on my mind.... should I feel embarrassed that those grown men can sing higher than I can?
After the play, on the way home I was lucky enough to witness a very entertaining event while waiting for the tube. I spotted a little baby mouse down in the tube tracks, and then a big one chased it and tackled it and it was SO funny.... and for some reason I'm blogging about it. But it really was wierd.
Today was our LAST DAY TRIP. WHAT? I just got here! Worst news ever.
We started by going to St. Albans Cathedral, which was cool because it was older and a little unique to the other cathedrals we've seen. You can see the additions from different time periods, so that's cool. It's very pretty.
There are also Roman ruins around there, and a museum. I feel like I've seen a LOT of Roman ruins around here, (well obviously, because they were here first), you sometimes kinda walk up on them in the middle of the city.
The next stop was my favorite of the day, the Cambridge American Cemetary and Memorial. It is a cemetary for all the soldiers who were buried over here afer World War 2, and there's a giant wall with all the "lost" soldiers names. When I saw the American flag it just made me remember how much I love my country and how BLESSED I am to live there. It's so sad to see all the hundreds of grades, and to know that this is one of the smallest memorials. I'm glad I'm in my international politics class so I know what exactly it is I'm supposed to be thankful for. The chapel at the memorial was SO sweet, it was almost all a mosiac, and there was a really cool map, and a stained glass window for every state. It was a really humbling experience. I wish we had more time there, we were kind of rushed.
Next we got back on the coach and drove on down to Cambridge University! We went King's College Chapel, which is phenonmenal. The whole room is incredible, and the cieling is really phenonmenal. If you ever happen to be passing by Cambridge, make some time to go inside.

Then we went punting, which is those little boats where the guide uses a stick to push you down the river, like in Italy. It was REALLY wierd being on a river in a boat, and REALLY wierd sitting up front listening to the guide. It was wierd, and I learned a few things that I want to remember:

-Don't ever talk about other companies to your passengers
-Don't talk about past groups you've taken down, or what happened on the river yesterday, you should make your people feel like they are the only ones.
-Silence isn't always awkward... I don't need to fill in the silence with useless talk. Sometimes people just want to sit and enjoy.
-Don't use cheesy jokes. They can tell (even though they may be tourists). AKA be genuine.
It was really relaxing and fun punting, and it was a fun way to see lots of the college.
Then I came home, and now I'm blogging, and next I'm going to do HOMEWORK!
Life's good.

  2. Let's go see that ceiling! Wowweeee! Did you hear the famous Cambrige Singers while you were there? I have several recordings of them with John Rutter conducting. How I would love to hear them there!

    You are so funny.
