Hot Dog de la France

Day 2. Another group activity- we all took the train to Versailles. Very important historically, and aside from that, very fun to look at. It is a GIANT castle, and the gardens go for miles and miles.... and miles. Marie Antoinette and a succession of Louis's lived in this Palace, and of course the treaty was signed there also. I will say, it was a bit less enjoyable for me because it was the most crowded place I've been yet. Too many people calls for a less personal experience, but it was still cool. After walking around the grounds for a while (in the warm SUN, mind you) we were all ready to head back to Paris. Versaille is HUGE, and I couldn't fit it all on my camera no matter how hard I tried.

This is what all of the ceilings look like. Not one inch is not covered.

This is me in the room where the Treaty of Versailles was signed. Neato.

When we got back in town, I was realllly exited because we went to the Musee d'Orsay! One of my favorite museums I've ever been in, I highly recommend it. I'ts almost all impressionistic art, which is everybody's favorite right? (Don't tell my classics teacher I said that.) Some of my favorites were: Renoir's dancing couples, Monet's girl with and umbrella, the cool pointilism ones by Signac and cross (?), and EVERYTHING by Van Gogh. If I were a painter, I would be Van Gogh. I just agree completely with use his colors and lines. The haystack one was my favorite one here.
I also saw "The Gleaners" by Millet, which is just a cool memory because in high school I repainted it, and I won an award for it. Yeah, watch out Millet, I can totally do that.
P.s. I just made up all those titles because they were in French and I don't know what they really said.

We finished up there, and went to the Pantheon. I didn't know they had one of those in Paris too. We didn't go inside unfortumately, there was a long line. And now I regret not going in. Dang it. I guess I'll just have to go inside the one in Rome.
Then I got some brownie ice cream and sat down on some Roman ruins and enjoyed the nice weather.

Night was setting in, and we met up with some others and went to eat and go to do a boat tour on the Seine river. We took our time eating, and when it was time to be buying our tickets, we realized that we coudn't find the right boat place. So Kelen, an over achiever who does not know how to accept failure, went and asked someone and when they were done talking, he turned around and yelled "LET"S GO!!!" and started full-on sprinting. We all just started running after him, my hot-dog-in-a-baguette still in hand, not knowing what we were in for. After hopping a fence, running accross busy streets, and running through cars in a traffic jam (it probably added up to a little over a mile and a half), we came upon the right place and we barely made it on the vessel. I was laughing so hard it hurt.
The tour was SO cool, the lights all reflecting off of the water and we went by the tower right when it started sparkeling (eek!), and I got to spend some time alone, on a river, in Paris. While we did the tour, it was just hard to believe that I was really here, in this place I've known about my whole life. As we passed all the sights on a boat, I just couldn't quite fathom it still.
We went back to the hotel and ate real French chocolates on our beds. They were SOOOO good. So good. Ah.

Quote of the day:
Me: "I wish I had some French Fries"
Byu girl (name will be left annonymous): "I wish I had a French Man."
