Top of the World

Woooooohoo. Time is FLYYYing. Ths week was midterms (even though we are far past half way done), and though I dread the very thought, I must admit much of my free time was spent boxed up in the center studying. Until....
SATURDAY! Oh blessed day! I find myself wondering if the hallelujah chorus was actually written on a saturday when Handel got out of school and just was overflowing with emotion. I think I could've written something equivalent at that moment.
Anyways, I ran in Hyde park, then I went to my cafe and got eggs and toast. Then I realized that I could not bear to go another day wearing the exact same clothes- so I went to Westfield with Rachel. It's the biggest mall in London. Yeah- it's big. I got a skirt and a jacket and a plaid shirt. Can't get enough of plaid. (It all began when my parents brought me home a real kilt from Scotland back in the day. Sigh...)

Funny story: the mall had samples, and of course we were going to every station and sampling their goods. Well, this one stand was chocolate, cookies, and fizz drinks, and I told the guy I want to try raspberry fizz... and he gave some to me, and well...IT WAS TOTALLY WINE! ooops. I just didn't realize that they hand it out to anyone who walks by! I acted really awkward and the tester guy was so confused why I was acting so wierd, and Rachel was just laughing at me. Seriously, it said SPARKLING RASPBERRY FIZZ. Whatever.
Next adventure for the day: LONDON EYE! WOOOT! Me and my friends found discount tickets like three weeks ago so we chose this day at 5 p.m. Little did we know, the tube we needed would be closed, so we had to take a totally ridiculous route, then we got on a bus. Obviously I haven't mastered the whole bus thing because our bus went the wrong way. Bad news is we didn't realize for two stops, so we had to RUN all the way to Westminster from wherever we were in the boonies. We looked like such fools.
It was all worth it in the end- the London eye was SO fun. Before you get on, they have you watch this 3D movie. I was laughing so hard, they had bubbles coming out of the ceiling, and fog, and water squirting us.... it was wierd. Once we got up there, we were just loving our lives. Especially because we know the city pretty well by now, so we could recognize everything. AND the sky was kinda cloudy so we were lucky to have a perfect sunset. Rare occasion. I think I stared at Big Ben for the majority of the ride, I love ben.
I'm used to looking down on the world from tall red rock cliffs, sandstone arches, and mountain peaks. I don't thing ANYthing could compare to that, but this was really beautiful.

The tube was closed after, so we had to walk to a distant stop for dinner at covent gardens, which was very fullfilling and well deserved.
Then we went to Gelato Mio (yummmm) and I just HAD to take a picture of this big caffe & chocolate gelato. It made my life complete.
We got home completely exhausted. I didn't emphasize enough far we ran to get there on time haha. Lately, my knees are swelling up after long days and my hips throb. Am I 80 years old or something? I'm being serious.... I'd be able to cope with this a lot easier if I was at least 20, that's basically grandma age. But COME ON, I'm still 19. Shouldn't I be able to revel in my youth a little longer? I need a walking stick for my birthday.
I couldn't sleep at all last night. Maybe because I was so happy from that wonderful day, which is not an uncommon occurance while here in the UK. Or it could be from the coffee Gelato. I prefer to believe it's the previous option. I was laying in bed awake till 5 a.m. It was really quite inconvenient. I don't remember that ever happening to me before. But my day was happiness, what more could I ask for?

  2. Gorgeous photos. And I can't believe you went to Jane Austen-land. I'm supremely jealous. Ugh. I think I should have been born in London. It looks like me. I miss you.
