Ah what a relief to have school be OVER.
That night we went to 39 Steps, which was probably the funniest play I've ever seen. It was so clever and hilarious. We loved it.Mom was supposed to fly out the next morning, so we went back home and got everything packed. What we didn't know was that a volcano in Iceland erupted and the ash in the air was keeping airplanes from being able to fly.
Almost all of Western Europe's Airports are shut down. It's really SO bizarre. I never thought I'd be stuck in London because of a volcano. Never in a million years.I guess if I have to be stuck anywhere, it's a good thing it's London.
Friday: We just start making plans for London because the seriousness of the situation has not yet presented itself. They keep bumping airplanes back every couple hours, but it sounds hopeful. LITTLE DID WE KNOW.
Anyways, we went running in Kensington garddens, my favorite thing to do. We tried to go to the train station to figure out another way out, but they were full and not able to see us. So we did what we must do... eat and go to a show!
We saw Chicago, which I loved. It was really well done. Totally Fosse.Saturday morning, my flight gets cancelled and we find out that we might actually be stuck here for up to a week or two. AH!
Luckily my mom is here, because she makes it fun to get out and enjoy London while I'm stuck here. We spent the whole morning at Portabello and I got two sweet rings make out of sea shells. We ate Crepes and had a good morning cause it was SO warm out. Kinda funny that the one time we really need a rainstorm to clear out the ash it won't come.
The we decided to go to evensong at Westminster, which was the best one I've heard yet. The choir was incredible and we were both really glad to be there. I'll never get sick of cathedrals. This picture is of us in front of the parliment building.
Mom was smart enough to smuggle a blanket off of her bed and stuff it in my backpack, so we took it to St. James park and laid there and listened to the Beatles for a while. The park was packed, it's the people's only escape from the city. It was really relaxing to just lay on the grass.
Then we headed home and spent about 4 hours trying to find a way out of the country- but alas, boats, trains, ferrys, cars, and planes are all clogged up. I'm really bummed because I had plans to see Sarah and Clint and the nephews, and then do the Rome/Florence scene with my Dad. I was really exited, but I have the rest of my life to come back right? And who knows, maybe a huge gust of wind will send the evil volcano's ash north and leave all our airports alone down here. You neeevvverr know.
SO the adventure continues, I have NO idea how this will all end, but really in the end, I'm trapped in London with my Mom and my friends, with a place to live and food to eat (and shows to see!), it's DEFINITELY an ideal situation for being stuck anwhere.

Volcano? weird. Thats cool that you are both stuck there together! iwish i had come with you.. then we would all be stuck together... dang it. i LOVE chicago! i have only seen the movie though.. i bet the musical is so much better. I miss you guys i really hope it's not like.. you get here and you have to leave to moab. that would suck.
