HOLY TOLEDO!

Day 2 in Espana! We took a day trip to Toledo, a 13th century town outside of Madrid, and might I say, it was LOVELY. It was the least touristy and least crowded place I've been thus far on this excursion, and THAT was nice. We made it a point to get lost a few times, it was just so beautiful. We explored a bit, and ran into the Toledo cathedral, which is the most well known cathedral in Spain. It was the grandest one I've seen yet (and you know how I feel about cathedrals, so that's sayin something). The pillars were so big, it was like walking through the redwood forest in California. It was SO Spanish. I looooved it. And there was hardly anyone there, which is part of the reason why Toledo was so neat.
For the rest of our time there we just wandered around, shopped, tried some Spanish Marzipan, found a great viewpoint of the town, and found a great candyshop (somehow I just ALWAYS run into those). It was the perfect way to spend a day in Toledo. It was SUCH a nice day out of the busy city.
This is me at the train station. Coolest train station EVER.
This small town was JUST how I pictured historic Spain to be.

After we got back, we finished off the day just right: Churros and chocolate baby. And just for the record, I swear my biceps are really bigger than they appear to be in this churro picture. Just sayin.

  1. Ah, Toledo.
When we were there we went to church in the bottom of an office building. There were about 25 people there, and only one young Melchizadeck (sp!) priesthood holder. Turns out Uncle Dan had baptized him when he was a little boy in northern Spain. It was rich. I love Spain. I love Paella!
